The TGV is about to arrive!

Following the excavation of more than 140,000 m3 of material and two years of precision work, the route of the TGV on the new railway line between Bettembourg and Luxembourg City is now clearly visible. Now it's time for the finishing touches.

Launched in 2023, the construction of this section of the line, located near Livange, will be completed in September. The route is now clearly visible, already allowing one to imagine high-speed trains slicing through the landscape as early as 2027.

Our teams, working in a temporary joint venture with Baatz, are focused on the final touches: cable duct crossings have been installed, catenary foundations are in place, and planting work has been carried out. Only a few fences, embankment stairs, as well as technical and cycling paths remain to be completed. “Additionally, we will also create a 5,000 m² reed bed and two retention basins. The water will pass through an oil separator before being discharged into the stream,” explains our deputy site manager.

The covered trench is now complete, and the final road markings will be applied in the coming weeks.

20,000 tonnes of ballast

The next major step: laying 20,000 tonnes of ballast over approximately 4 km, between sector 10 and the saut-de-mouton (a flyover structure) located at the exit of Bettembourg station, where the lines to Mondorf and Luxembourgintersect.

An initial 2 km section will be laid before the collective holiday break, with the remainder to follow in September, ahead of the handover of this major mobility project to CFL.
